British Bars in Benidrom

With sunny Benidorm on Spain's Costa Blanca attracting huge numbers of British tourists each year it's not surprising it plays host to many British bars for visitors to enjoy. British holidaymakers are not renowned for being the most adventurous, and most tend to stick with what's familiar. So, when looking for a ‘watering hole' to frequent while on holiday many Brits are attracted to British style or themed bars and pubs to quench their thirst and socialise with like minded people. Over the years many British bars and pubs have sprung up around Benidorm, some of which are detailed in this post.

Vincent's Old Town

Established in 1965, Vincent's Old Town pub located on Av. de los Almendros in Benidorm's Old Town is the oldest British pub in town. Vincent's is a traditional British style pub with a warm and cosy interior and authentic pub decor. The extremely friendly and efficient staff make every guest feel welcome the moment they walk through the doors. They serve a comprehensive range of drinks at reasonable prices and the kitchen produce some very tasty traditional British ‘pub grub'.

Vincent's enjoys a corner location in Benidorm's Old Town and has a faithful following amongst the local expat community as well as regular visitors to the town. It is popular for it's karaoke evenings, live sports coverage and live music events. When in the area, this true British style pub is well worth a visit.

Pig ‘N' Whistle Pub

Nestled away on Calle Pal in Benidorm's Old Town is this charming little traditional British pub. Run by proprietors Lee and Helen and their friendly team of bar staff, the Pig ‘n' Whistle has a real ale pub feel and in fact serves a wide range of British real ales. They play a varied range of music for the enjoyment of their customers who can request all their favourite tracks.

Although fairly small  in size, this pub more than makes up for it in character. With a great selection of drinks, a tasty food menu and live sports coverage, this little gem of a pub is hard to overlook.

O'Maras

Situated on Carrer dels Quatre Cantons in the heart of Benidorm's ‘old town' O'Maras, a quaint British themed pub can be found. O'Maras is one of Benidorm's well established British bars and stocks a good range of traditional ales, lagers, ciders and spirits. The proprietors and staff go out of their way to make guests feel welcome and relaxed with their warm hospitality. The pub interior, although fairly small, has high ceilings giving it an airy feel.

On the entertainment front, O'Maras play a varied selection of old and modern music and have three large screen TV's for patrons to follow their favourite live sporting events. This pub is also renowned for it's good food, serving up full English breakfasts, Sunday roasts and tasty ‘pub fare' from 10am to 10pm.

Piccadilly Circus Pub

This great little British themed pub can be found on the ‘Benidorm strip', Calle Gerona in the heart of the city. The pub interior is bright and colourful with bench type seating down both sides and plenty of tables and chairs for patrons to relax and enjoy a cold drink.

The bar is well stocked with many well know British and local brands of beer and spirits. Drinks are reasonably priced and bargains for groups are available with buckets of beers and other specials. Cocktails and sangria may be purchased by the glass or jug and the friendly staff also make a great cup of tea or coffee. The Piccadilly is popular for its karaoke evenings and has a small terrace for customers to relax in the sunshine. Open from 9am until the early hours of the morning, this delightful British pub is definitely worth a visit.

Yorkshire Pride 1, 2 & 3

The Yorkshire Pride British pubs in Benidorm have been so successful they now have three outlets in the city. Yorkshire Pride 1 is on Calle Gerona, 2 is on Calle Londres and 3 can be found on Calle Doctor Severo Ochoa. These traditional British style pubs are renowned for their food and much of their success can be attributed to consistent food quality, generous portions, value for money and exceptionally friendly and efficient service. For those with large appetites and a limited budget, a Yorkshire Pride pub is the place to eat! Plates are filled to the brim with tasty homemade food at very reasonable prices and ‘Sunday roasts' are available every day of the week.

Each of the three Yorkshire Pride pubs is spacious with both indoor and terrace seating and tables, yet each has its own unique character. All three pubs are well stocked with a wide range of reasonably priced drinks served in a relaxed and friendly environment. Entertainment varies from pub to pub and includes live bands, karaoke and televised live sporting events. When next in Benidorm, try one, or all three of the Yorkshire Pride pubs for a true taste of Yorkshire hospitality.

John & Joseph's

Well, this bar and restaurant located on Calle Gerona is at least half British! John & Joseph's is worth a mention as it receives rave reviews for its outstanding service and value for money. This pub has an enormous menu with something for all tastes and serves breakfasts, brunches, lunches and dinners until late at night. Service is friendly and extremely quick with staff ‘bending over backwards' to accommodate their guests.

The bar and restaurant are bright and airy with plenty of seating both inside and out. They offer a great choice of drinks starting at just €1 for a bottle of beer and €1.50 for a pint! The only criticism of John & Joseph's could be that it doesn't quite have that traditional British pub feel to it.

The Drop Inn

This charming little British pub is easy to find on Calle Londres. The Drop Inn has both indoor and terrace seating and a lovely layout and decor scheme. The staff are welcoming and friendly and the drinks, ice cold and reasonably priced. Visitors may also have a tasty bite to eat from the comprehensive food menu including breakfasts and a ‘Sunday roast' every day of the week.

The Drop Inn boasts four large screen TVs on which patrons can follow their favourite live sports. This is a very easy going and friendly pub which doesn't get too loud and rowdy like some of the other British bars in Benidorm.

The Stretford End Pub

Located on Calle Londres in Benidorm, The Stretford End Pub is basically an British style sports pub dedicated to Manchester United Football Club. All the walls inside the spacious bar interior are adorned with Manchester United memorabilia including autographed football jerseys, photographs and match programs. The pub boasts many TVs and large screens so patrons can follow the action from wherever they are inside or out on the terrace.

The Stretford not only attracts Manchester United fans but a variety of visitors in search of a good pint and tasty bite to eat. The drinks are served ice cold and are good value for money and the pub also offers a varied and reasonably priced food menu. Plenty of seating and a special buzz on match days pulls the crowds into this ‘niche' football pub.

Beach Bars
