Thrill seekers visiting the popular seaside city of Benidorm don’t need to go far to find a superb range of exciting adventures and activities such as Cable Ski or Flyboard. Most of the available water sports activities in Benidorm take place in, or start from the marina area where cordoned off areas provide a safe environment to practice these sports. High powered speed boats, and popular beach resorts with hundreds of swimmers in the sea is a recipe for disaster and many beach resorts around the world have banned conventional water skiing due to the dangers. For a number of reasons many adventure tour operators choose to base themselves in the smaller towns near Benidorm, and some offer great value tour packages that include a combination of activities at discounted rates, especially for group bookings.
Cable Ski Benidorm
Based in the Rincon de Loix area of Benidorm’s Levante Beach, Cable Ski Benidorm is set in a 1000 square metre private perimeter that enables people to ski in a totally safe environment. First created in 1966, cable ski uses a series of cables on motorised pulleys, connected to 4 towers that enables you to water ski without the use of a boat. This unique system can accommodate up to 12 skiers at one time and offers the chance to try other board sports such as wake board, knee board and wake skate.
The facility is open to both experienced skiers and novices of all ages, and you have the option of going it alone or taking lessons. Once you have chosen which skiing discipline you wish to try, you will be given a briefing on the correct stance to use on initial take off, as well as once you are up and away. Once you have mastered your skis or board, you can start practising sharp turns, slalom, jumps and stunts.
Choose Your Activity
2 Skis – This is the basis used for conventional water skiing and is great for beginners, as you have the stability of 2 skis and more chance of correcting a mistake before you fall.
Mono Ski – Not as easy to master as 2 skis but once you have the knack, mono skiing allows you to perform more difficult manoeuvres and is great for slalom.
Wake Board – Since its invention, wake boarding has grown into one of the most popular water sports, and is similar in a way to kite boarding although riders don’t need the wind to pull them. This allows beginners to concentrate on their riding stance and manoeuvres.
Knee Board – This is another activity that is perfect for beginners and younger children. It is a lot easier to maintain your stability when kneeling and these boards are the easiest to ride.
Wake Skate – This is a smaller version of the wake board that has no straps for your feet, just a sandpaper like covering similar to a skateboard, and its smaller size gives you more agility.
