Benidorm Campsites

When planning a holiday, especially with young children, Benidorm campsites are a wonderful choice and provide a safe environment away from the hustle and bustle of the city centre where the young ones can play freely in a relaxed social setting. The mere mention of camping will have most kids scurrying for their sleeping bags and heading for the door before you have even thought of booking a campsite!

Camping grounds and campsites have come a long way from the days of a few tent pitches and maybe a single ablution block with no hot water and Benidorm campsites are a prime example. Most of the campsites in Benidorm are situated no more than a 10 minute drive from the city centre and beaches and have superb facilities, strict speed limits within the grounds, friendly staff, fun entertainment and 24hr security, making it possible to enjoy a peaceful, relaxed holiday yet close enough to the city for sunny days on the beach and vibrant nightlife.

City Campsites

There are several campsites located in the city's outer residential areas that offer a number of accommodation options, some set in huge grounds more like holiday camps with over 1000 camping pitches alone and a number of modern, well equipped ablution blocks with hot water showers, dish and clothes washing facilities. Other accommodation options include pitches for caravans and motorhomes equipped with running water, electrical sockets, satellite TV and WiFi connection, and facilities for car wash, caravan storage and emptying chemical toilets.

Benidorm campsites also offer more luxurious accommodation, earning themselves the rather apt nickname of ‘glamping'. These include small camp huts for solo campers with just a bed, light and fan, and fully equipped cabins with private bathrooms, terraces and parking that come in a range of sizes from twin to family, boasting all the mod cons, air conditioning and heating. Some, such as Villasol Camping even offer hotel style suites, luxury bungalows and large villas where guests can enjoy meals included or self catering.

Most Benidorm campsites are set in large parkland areas where every service and facility has been thought of. There are landscaped gardens with shady picnic and BBQ areas, sporting facilities such as tennis courts, football pitches, volleyball, basketball and younger children's play areas. Some boast swimming pools that are more like water parks with tropical themes including islands, waterfalls, bridges, slides and several pools for adults and kids. Many even have heated indoor pools, spas, Jacuzzis, saunas and gymnasiums.

Other facilities include on-site shops, supermarkets, laundry rooms, 24hr reception, games rooms and bars and restaurants where daily live entertainment can be enjoyed. There are also fully trained kids entertainment teams that keep the young ones happy with all sorts of games, sports, competitions and team events.

Countryside Campsites

With fantastic weather, a diverse coastline and beautiful countryside boasting lush valleys, lakes, rivers and mountains, it's possible to camp just about anywhere on the Costa Blanca. You will often see motorhomes and camper vans parked along the coast where camping can be enjoyed for free and, although camping on the beach is not strictly legal, as long as campers are responsible and don't leave any lit fires or rubbish this law is hardly ever enforced. The same can be said for camping inland, such as next to a lake or river, so long as it's not on private land and you leave your campsite in the same condition as when you found it.

Countryside campsites usually don't have as wide a range of facilities as Benidorm campsites, but the draw for most campers is the beautiful natural setting these provide. Such is the campsite at Algar Waterfalls that enjoys a wonderful mountain setting close to the falls that seems miles away from civilisation yet is only 30 minutes drive from Benidorm. The site has pitches for tents and caravans, ablution blocks, picnic and BBQ facilities, mini mart, cafe/bar and a good choice of restaurants around the falls and in the nearby village.

A bit further afield and situated in the picturesque Natural Park of the Sierra de Mariola, Camping Mariola is a nature lovers paradise, surrounded by forest and mountains where during the winter snow quite often covers the entire campsite turning it into a winter wonderland. The site boasts great facilities, various camping pitches and a number of charming fully equipped bungalow, with heating of course 🙂
