With millions of holidaymakers visiting Benidorm each year the city offers a huge amount of accommodation options, and a popular choice with many visitors is private holiday accommodation. Since it first became well known as a tourist destination in the early 1960's the demand for holiday rentals in the city grew to the extent that Benidorm now has the most high rise buildings per capita in the world, many of which house privately owned holiday apartments. Even with so much accommodation available, such is the popularity of Benidorm that it's advisable to book your accommodation well in advance of your holiday.
Holiday Apartments & Camping Grounds
There really is something for everyone, from small studio apartments for singles or couples to large penthouse apartments with several bedrooms, lounges and terraces, ideal for large families or groups. Hotels abound in the city, from budget hostels with shared dorm rooms and bathrooms to grand five star resorts offering just about every facility imaginable. Camping is a popular choice with families, and Benidorm has several campsites and camping resorts where you can choose from basic tent pitches all the way up to luxury bungalows and villas. Most of these campsites offer excellent facilities, swimming pools, bars and restaurants.
Benidorm's residential areas offer a good choice of private holiday accommodation in a variety of options including townhouses, bungalows and villas. Some of these can be found in gated communities where, for an annual fee residents share facilities such as swimming pools, tennis courts, parks and green areas. At the high end of the holiday rental bracket are detached villas, some front line to the beach that have extensive landscaped gardens, private pools, separate cottages or ‘granny flats' and a large number of bedrooms.
Renting From An Agent
The city has hundreds of estate agents that deal in private holiday accommodation but it's worth bearing in mind when booking through them, there will be an agents fee either on top of the accommodation price or built into the price. A lot of private owners choose to use an estate agent to rent their properties because they don't live in Spain and are not available to hand over keys or clean the property before and after the rental, which is a service agents offer.
If you wish to save on agents fees and rent directly from the owner, a good place to look is the local newspapers and Facebook buy & sell groups. Also, if your private holiday accommodation is in a gated community, make sure before booking that the home owner is up to date with the community fees as I have come across instances when holidaymakers have been refused entry to the swimming pools or tennis courts due to unpaid community fees.
