English Square in Benidrom

If you are looking for a holiday destination where you will never go thirsty, Spain has more bars per person than any other country in the world and a good few of them can be found in English Square, Benidorm. Located at the junction of Av. de Mallorca and Calle Gerona in the centre of the action, ”The Square” as it's usually referred to by locals is one of the liveliest night time destinations in the city and is not for the faint of heart.

Benidorm's English Square

Surrounded by hotels and high rise holiday apartments, English Square is the place to tuck into a succulent Sunday roast with all the trimmings, and what better after partying until the sun comes up than a full English breakfast. Although the majority of the crowds that frequent this area of the city are British holidaymakers and expat residents, Irish visitors won't feel left out with establishments such as Brogans and the Shamrock Pub providing the ‘craic' and pints of their much beloved Guinness.

Night time revelry in The Square is vibrant, and at times down right ‘bawdy' with an abundance of crazily dressed groups celebrating Stag & Hen do's, sometimes with their hired dwarf in tow (only in Benidorm!). The most popular bar here, especially if you're ‘on the pull' seems to be Cafe Benidorm, although you won't see people having a coffee here unless it's to sober them up for the walk back to their accommodation! Other popular bars include Copas, Bahamas, Hippodrome, Beachcomber and Sinatras, which is a favourite with the older crowd.

The location of English Square gives visitors an excellent choice of budget hotels as well as holiday apartments, and it's just 2 blocks from the famous Levante Beach where many of The Square's night time revellers sleep off their hangovers under a sun parasol. The area has a well stocked Consum Supermarket, 24 hr pharmacy, KFC, taxi rank and the extremely popular party and adventure tour operator F**K IT 🙂
