El Cisne Flea Market

Bargain hunters and antique collectors visiting Benidorm should take the time to explore the popular El Cisne Flea Market, sometimes also referred to as El Cisne Rastro. Spaniards are expert hagglers, especially the family matriarchs who rarely use shops or supermarkets for their fresh produce; there's no haggling with a cashier 🙂

On market days you can see these endearing ladies, chins firmly set and a steely glint in the eye as they approach the wary stall holders, set on paying what they consider to be a fair price and no more. I have learned a lot from watching them and now tend to do the majority of my own fresh produce shopping on market days, and usually end up paying at least half of what I would in a supermarket, although it will be years until my haggling skills are up to scratch.

El Cisne Flea Market

Located on the outskirts of the city, El Cisne is easy to get to by car from the city centre. From Levante Beach area or Av. del Mediterráneo you head up the main Av. de Europa to the large roundabout where you turn left onto Av. de la Comunitat Valenciana. Here you continue for about a kilometre until you come to the junction that joins the N-332, El Cisne Flea Market is on the right. If you are not driving, the city bus number 10 stops right outside the market.

Browsing El Cisne's stalls is a delight, and if you know your stuff when it comes to collectables you should take your time and do a thorough search, as some rare and valuable items can sometimes be found. It is a true old fashioned flea market where you will find stamp collections, coin dealers, rare china, antiques, old jewellery boxes, brass & copperware, lamps, paintings and pottery. There is also the usual offerings of clothing, leather goods, kids toys and a range of jewellery and accessories. The market atmosphere overflows to the nearby cafes where you can enjoy a meal and refreshments, sometimes accompanied by live entertainment.

Market Days & Times

El Cisne Flea Market is open on Saturday and Sunday from around 09:00 – 14:30.
